Last Updated - A Personal Struggle

As an adult, I realized I had a condition called phimosis, where the foreskin does not retract. It didn’t stop me from having sexual relationships, but it always made me feel different. My wife reassured me it wasn’t a problem, but I remained self-conscious.

I avoided addressing the issue as a child, ignoring the pediatrician’s advice to use ointments and perform exercises. My Catholic upbringing suppressed any open discussion about such matters, leaving me ill-equipped to manage my condition. Only recently, after embracing naturism and shedding my inhibitions, did I seek help from an andrologist. I’ve been diagnosed with severe phimosis, which could lead to further complications. A circumcision is scheduled soon.

Talking openly about this has revealed surprising connections. My older brother, 14 years my senior, confided he underwent circumcision 20 years ago for the same reason. He suggested it’s genetic. Why wasn’t I warned earlier? My wife’s family also shared similar experiences, showing how deeply societal shame and silence affect men.

Moving Forward

Despite these challenges, naturism has empowered me. I’ve grown to accept and celebrate my body, imperfections and all. Discussing these topics publicly, as I’m doing now, is my way of breaking the cycle of ignorance and shame. Perhaps others can find strength in my story as I did in Steve’s.
