After posting my impressions of Willamettans I have thought about the future and what is to happen to naturism. It seems to me that we are approaching a crossroads that will require some creative thinking in order to prohibit a decline in those interested in the naturism that we know today. However, maybe that is a good thing and a less restrictive, more open way of living will surface. I also, in the last few weeks, have visited Turtle Lake resort in Union City, MI and found that there were many retired residents there as were at the Northern Oregon resort. Also, I visited with a long term friend who when younger professed to be "pan sexual". I knew nothing about that but have learned that younger folks experiment much more than I did when growing up. I think that is healthy but also think that some would be drawn to naturism to satisfy some questions about themselves and if they find those answers elsewhere the naturism movement may suffer. We can deny that inquisitive attitudes have no place in our way of life but we are still humans and questioning is always there whether we are 18 or 80. To deny our interest in the opposite sex is a fool's game and to advertise our facilities as non-sexual is to present ourselves in a hard to defend position. You can just look at the merchandise offered by clubs and online to see that sex is up front and an important aspect of our ways. There is probably no answer to all of this but I think we have to realistically acknowledge the reality if we are to remain viable and offer facilities and clubs that are meaningful.
