I think you can be a nudist/naturist and still appreciate clothes.  First, they're darn handy when it gets cold!  I enjoy the wardrobes on some of the period murder mysteries I'm watching now.  Check out Phryne Fisher on Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (Australian, set in the Twenties).  Fantastic Art Deco fashions.  Also Drs. Julia Ogden and Emily Grace on Murdoch Mysteries (Canadian, set in the early 1900's).  My hat is off to the costume designers for both programs.

I agree wholeheartedly. I love a movie where care has been taken to be authentic, both in costumes and prop/scenery.  The Sting, with Redford and Newman was a great example. In the past, there have been bloggers (especially on the old site) who communicated as though, if you wear socks to warm your feet, you are anathema.
There is a time and a place for everything under the sun; a time to clothe and a time to unclothe.  I very much prefer the times to unclothe; but I'm not Cro-magnon man... if there ever really was such a thing...

Welcome to the site and the forum Evelyn. It is great to have you here. I hope your son continues to be chilled about nudity. Our boys are 11 and 8 and the telling time will be our eldest hitting his teens. At the moment it seems very unlikely that he will want to cover but peer pressure and fitting in is a biggie. He may feel somehow that he needs to change incase people find out and tease. Currently he is very open about his naturism to his school friends. 

I hate being cold so when it come to comfort I will not suffer to be naked. As mentioned above that may be just a pair of socks. I don't like a cold wind on my breasts so some times on a beach I will throw a top on for a while. A big part of naturism for me is about not wearing clothes when it makes sense - it has to work the other way around too.

Clothes in films and admiration of clothing full stop - crazy for a naturist site but maybe I need to add a topic in the non-naturist side of the forum. Wow - we love costume dramas - I think partly the clothes but partly the idea of revisiting history. But not just films set ion the past but also older films have great clothes. Todays clothing is pretty shabby, many people dress rather scruffily. I remember when men wore shirt and ties and suits or jackets all the time. Grandfathers that only ever wore suits with waist coats. Men always wore hats. There really was a time not too long ago when everyone working in an office in London wore a bowler hat a carried an umbrella and briefcase. Look at photos taken of crowds a few decades back and almost everyone was not only smarter dressed but also in better shape. They didn't have a lot of clothing maybe but what they had looked smart. The clothing in the Sting was great. We have been watching a few Robert Redford films recently. The wonderful Robert Shaw was also great in The Sting and stole the screen in Jaws. He died too young. He was also great fun in From Russia with Love. Oh dear Steve has been turning me into a film bore!

My names Chris and I used to post previously on the old forum.. I'm 38 and have a now 15 year old son called Ben who lives between me and my ex partner.

In regards to being nudists we are relatively new to it.. wouldn't even call ourselves nudists probably? 

We are slowly over the past year/18 months becoming more open with casual nudity around the house when Ben stays with me at weekends and stuff, I'm proud of him honestly how far he has come with not being shy or self conscious about nudity in general.

been a massive learning curve for both of us to be honest!

Hello everyone! It occurred to me that despite having been around the site for a while and its previous incarnation too, I haven't introduced myself properly. Please allow me to correct this now.

I'm a father of two boys who are now teenagers. We are your typical family working and going to school during the weekend and spending weekends doing house chores and groceries plus an occasional outing here and there. What maybe a little different is that some of those outings include visits to nude beaches or swims, and our house chores are done in the nude. We have been living our day to day nude for over a decade now and there's really nothing special about it like there's nothing special about raking clothes off before a shower. Our holidays usually have a naturist destination or two if the weather permits and there're still so many naturist places we want to go.

I am the die hard naturist as it's usually the case. My parents are not naturists and extended families have not been explicitly told of our naturism but I guess we're always honest in answering their questions. We would be dressed when seeing families and non-naturist friends. When the boys were much younger, they would take off their clothes before climbing into bed and that would trigger a question or two. We would say plainly that they liked it that way. I think once someone asked if I slept naked and I said why not? Maybe no one thought that we also live sans clothing or that we're socially nude but really that's how we live and how the kids grow up.

I do wish we could be way more social in naturism and have many naturist friends with families. That said I feel we're not in the right climate or the right era for naturism. I am certain should we live in Florida we would spend every weekend at naturist resorts or even live in one. I also want to spend summers in France in the many naturist resorts all over the country. That said, I love Vancouver and our Wreck Beach. No it's not what it was in the 70s or 80s when everyone of any age would go there and get an all-over tan. Still I treasure the memories of our time spent there digging up clams and playing frisbee or throwing balls. They were beautiful memories to behold.

As the kids grow we are now probably going into a transition period. We still live nude at home but really there're less and less attractions that are also naturist. At some point they will go exclusive to their new own social circles and there will not be naturists among them. Don't know how it may turn out but I hope at least they would pass on a body positive message to others and more importantly to their future families. But that's a bit far away for now.

As to myself, I would love to retire (not for another decade or two unfortunately) to a naturist resort. In fact I sometimes think of owning or managing one. A far shot but I do like to dream around that idea!

Last but not least, while we are Canadians we are also Asians. I can attest that there are naturists all around the world representing all ethnicity and speaking all sorts of tongues. In our nude swim there're people in all skin colors in all shape and sizes. It is indeed A Naturist World!
