I have just been adding to this topic Chores and Hobbies You Do and Don't Do Naked and we do talk about wearing certain safety gear or not doing certain jobs naked and it got me wondering: Are there times when being a naturist has actually caused physical harm that you wouldn't normally have suffered?
Most of the time any scratches in have had gardening (for example) have been on my arms and in all likelihood I would have got them if I had been dressed. The worst incident in the garden has been a small branch poking me in the eye, and that would also have happened if I had been dressed. I have only ever burned my arms when cooking or ironing, so on the whole naturism has caused me do pain.
Though once I closed a heavy metal lined sliding glass door on my right nipple when exiting the house in Spain. The end of the nipple almost sheared right off but I held it in place for a while with a plaster and it bonded back in place. The eagle eye may notice a light patch due to the scar. So this is the only time when naturism has caused me physical pain that I wouldn't have had otherwise, and I remember complaining to Steve, while in some discomfort, "I am never walking around the house naked again." That thought was soon forgotten.
But how about you? Have you ever had an injury because of naturism?
Share your anecdotes here.
We often get scratches in the garden, especially when around the raspberries. The worse injury we have had happen was when I (Rob) sat down with a bump on a wooden bench, and trapped one of my testicles under my leg. The pain was excruciating, and I came off the bench far quicker than I sat down, with a squeal.
I will add, that whilst I stood holding my injured region, and sweating and gasping, my twisted wife, spat her drink all over the place, and died on the spot in fits of laughter, as I looked at her with tears in my eyes, in utter disbelief, which made her laugh even more.
It was a painful experience that pants may have prevented, I think the most damage done that day was to my dignity, as I feel I was less elegant than normal. The lesson I learned from that, was to be more cautious, and I now understand the darkness of my wife’s humour level, as she continued to giggle for most of the day, and took great pride in telling the kids that evening.
Ouch! I suspect my wife does the same. Either that or yell at me for screaming in pain :)
And Anna, I'm impressed with your intelligent, on-the-spot triage!
I cannot remember a single time when I have been hurt or even made to feel uncomfortable from being a naturist. Even flies or mosquitos tend to land on areas that would be uncovered anyway, arms, ankles, back of your neck... But I have certainly been able to be a lot more comfortable and suffer less pain because of naturism. I think it fair to say that wearing cold and wet swimwear actually caused me pain, no exaggeration! Doctors have explained that my genitals are highly over reactive to cold (and also "perceived fear" ). They would go numb and pull into my body giving me a pain somewhere between extreme pins and needles and a swift kneeing when left in wet trunks. Naturism offered me a escape from this pain. Allowing an easier temperature adjustment due to warm air and quick drying. It is unnatural for us to keep parts of our bodies cold and wet while others are dry and warm, and it is a huge part of the logic of naturism for me.
