Moshup Beach also known as Gay Head Aquinnah Beach is located in Aquinnah between Philbin Beach and the tipping point of the Gay Head Cliffs and is reported to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the United States.
At the foot of the cliffs is a beautiful beach with soft white sand and clear water of a rare aqua colour, which sometimes has a red tinge, from the reflections of the cliffs above. The wave heights are above average for the area. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the beach was a haven for nude sunbathers who delighted in "clay baths." These are no longer allowed. Although this is not officially designated as a "nude beach," the area just before and just after the first entry point is designated as "clothing optional."Moshup Beach is one of the most lovely, lonely and haunting beautiful beaches anywhere.
