Well, when I discovered naturism as this thing that actually exists in other parts of the world, i was like 25 years old. I always liked to be naked, and knew that somewhere there were nudist beaches, but with all those myths about them and didnt know where to find them anyway.  So I went naked when i could and always privately.

So, long story short, I went in a trip to Czech Republic, and found out about it and was amazed by it. So I self proclaimed naturist since then , and wanted to make a point of it.  

It was the down of social media, and there was a social network called HI5, used widely in Latin America. My family, mi friends, my coworkers, most of them were there, so I thought at the moment it was a marvelous idea, to post a picture of me naked in there, as to show that yes, I am a naturist. And thats how it went down. I got a couple of phone calls from my aunts, asking me to take it down, but in general, there wasnt a lot of fuzz. But yes, i was that oddball or extremist that i readed in previous messages haha.

Now, as I am older, coupled and with children, I am definitely more cautious (lets say, not so dumb). Nevertheless, I do let know practically to everyone who wants to hear, that we are naturist, but there is a specific reason for that.

As I have said before, we are trying to promote family naturism in a country that has non of that. And we came to conclude that the best way to start, is to find among our family, friends and acquaintances the right core group to begin with, people that we know and trust, and that they know us and trust us. And go from there.

Fortunately, we ve found out that some (not all of course) of this people are on board to try it, so I think this was actually a good idea. Lets hope for the future.

Life is a massive balancing act - and naturism is very much part of that. 

Being true to yourself while being respectful of others.

Giving and taking. 

Supporting a cause without becoming a martyr. 

Teaching without lecturing. 

Ensuring that life is easy and comfortable - yet still stretching yourself and sometimes getting out of that comfort zone. 

Finding compromises without selling out. 

Being a individual while also being part of society.  

Being open and honest and yet still maintaining a level of privacy. 

etc...

We have to do a lot of juggling - it can be exhausting and frustrating but when we get it right it is very rewarding. 

We are very careful who we tell. I probably tell other people more than Trish does.  When I was in business, I told quite a number of my clients and received mixed reactions and one or two actually went on to try it them selves.  I sing in a shanty band with 10 members. I have told about 4 of them but I know one or two others would take umbrage. Actuall the lates one was told a few weeks ago. I was at my Band Practice and I was chatting with the member who deals with the selling of our CDs and I mentioned that I had sold one from my batch to a member of a swim club I am a member of.  I revealed to him that it was a naturist swim club and he was surprised and said "I did not think you would be doing that sort of thing".  He went on to mention that his wife had told him that following the death of her first husband, and before meeting my bandmate, she had gone on a date with some chap who told her that they were going to the beach and revealed it was a naturist one and she had readily joined in.   My colleague said he was not sure if he could do it but expressed an interest so I am just leaving it for him to tell his wife of our conversation and see if they come back to me to find out more.  

Trish volunteers in a Charity Shop and afte we returned from holiday the manager asked where we had been. Trish replied that it was a farm where the owner had diversified and converted various buildings into self catering accommodation with a swimming pool and hot tub and walks around the local fields. The manager said "Ooh I would like to go somewhere like that" then Trish had to say. "Actually it is naturist accommodation and you do not need to wear clothes". Manager said "Good for you" and asked for details.

I was on my way in to band practice last night and was helping our Musical Director in with one of his bags and we were talking about the hot weather and how it was too hot to wear anything. He said that it had been too hot for him to go out during the day and that he had only dressed when he came out to the practice and I said same here and added that we were naturists. He said he had often thought of trying it. Perhaps the conversation will continue. I think now that out of our 10 members, I have told 5

I was mowing the lawn this morning but as it was in the front garden, I had a shirt and shorts on. I go t speaking to one of our femail neighbours who lives opposite. Her husband has a property maintenance business and has done several jobs for us. She was telling me that he had a sore back and had to take it easy which is not good especially for his work. The conversation turned to other aching limbs and I said that I had had a fall recently and had hurt my back and it had also affected my left knee. Anyhow I said that when I had been swimming I had only managed to do about 4 lengths of the pool because of the aching knee but after increasing my dosage of paracetemol I was able to achieve 30 lengths yesterday. She asked if it was a local swim because we do not have a pool here at present and I told her the approximate location and she asked why we go so far. I then had to tell her that it was a naturist swim club and she gave a favourable reaction.  So that means that both sets of neighbours beside us and two sets opposite now know as the others were advised some time ago.
