Carlyon Bay is a bay and part of a set of three beaches near St Austell on the south coast of Cornwall, England. It stretches almost 2 miles and consists of coarse stent, which is a mixture of waste from the tin and china clay industries.
It was Cornwalls first official naturist beach, but this is no longer the case. Once you have descended the 80 or so steps to get down onto the beach turn right and head across as far as you can until you reach the rocks and here you will see a scattering of naturists, even though there is a sign at the top of the steps showing a no removing of clothing sign.
Safe for swimming and snorkeling you will find entry into the sea goes deep quite quickly.
Carlyon Bay offers toilets a beach bar, a seafood shack, a pasty shop and jet skis! Parking at £3/car or £5/van long hike up to the car park up some very steep steps other than that its ok.

- Directions Approach St Austell on the A390 from east or west. Approaching from the east, just after St Blazey Gate, turn left at a roundabout signposted to Par and Fowey (A3082). Alternatively from the west, drive around St Austell on the A390 and follow the A390 out of St Austell towards St Blazey Gate, then turn right at the roundabout signposted to Fowey and Par (A3082). Continue on the A3082 until a right turning signposted to Carlyon Bay Hotel and Golf Course. Continue on this road, continue under the railway bridge, then at the next junction turn left and follow this road to the Carlyon Bay car park.
