Carlyon Bay is a bay and part of a set of three beaches near St Austell on the south coast of Cornwall, England. It stretches almost 2 miles and consists of coarse stent, which is a mixture of waste from the tin and china clay industries.
It was Cornwalls first official naturist beach, but this is no longer the case. Once you have descended the 80 or so steps to get down onto the beach turn right and head across as far as you can until you reach the rocks and here you will see a scattering of naturists, even though there is a sign at the top of the steps showing a no removing of clothing sign.
Safe for swimming and snorkeling you will find entry into the sea goes deep quite quickly.
Carlyon Bay offers toilets a beach bar, a seafood shack, a pasty shop and jet skis! Parking at £3/car or £5/van long hike up to the car park up some very steep steps other than that its ok.
