Studland bay in Swanage, Dorset, England is the most famous UK nudist beach, now officially approved (after years of controversy) by landowner the National Trust. The naturist beach is the middle mile of a 3 mile long sandy beach backed by sand dunes and heather.
The beach is about 20 metres wide and is unique in being the National Trust's only official nudist beach. It is composed of fine sand, backed by dunes and a large nature reserve. The nudist area is well marked with with green-topped posts and blue National Trust signs. The sea here is usually calm, making it suitable for children and, the naturist section regular attracts family groups as well as nudists and naturists of all ages.
