This is a beautiful remote beach wonderful for snorkling and seeing fish in the clear waters.
Its difficult access means it is never really busy. There is also limited parking. Just look for space in the lay- bys on the main road.
After making the trip down (or canoeing from easier to get to beaches) you will find that the trip was worth it. Fish jump out of the clear water. There are large rocks to explore at the far end and the atmosphere is one of peace and tranquility.
The sand is dark and soft and scattered with flat rocks that help to keep the water clear. By mid afternoon you will find more naturists have worked their way down the rocks to enjoy this lovely beach.
There is a large bin at the top of the path away from the beach. Don't forget to take your rubbish with you when you leave the beach.

- Directions Playa El Ruso is on the Granada coast just south of Albunol. Leave the A7 at the 373 junction. Travel west away from Rabita on the N340 in the direction of Melicena. About 1 km afterwards you will pass a turning on the left signposted La Rabita (around the 370 km mark on the N340). Take this turning and the beach is almost directly visible below the road. after about 400 metres you will see a house on the right sitting on a tight bend. The access to the beach path is next to this house. There is a beach sign and a large bin. Park where you can. There is a decent size lay- by just around the corner on the opposite side of the road.
Walking down to the beach is not the easiest. The path down the side of the cliff is narrow but take it easy and enjoy the trip past the little rock pool before heading through the tall bamboo like grasses. You have then arrived safely.
