Glyka Nera lies on the south coast of Crete near Chora Sfakion. Its name literally means "Sweet water" and comes from the natural fresh water springs which gush out from the beach and the sea around the shore.
This beach is perhaps the most popular nudist beaches in Crete as it is beautiful, natural, remote and difficult to get to. The cliffs of the white Mountain which are hundreds of meters high slope down to the beach, forming a solid wall giving much privacy.
The right side of the beach is for naturists, and there is plenty of trees to provide natural shade. The deep blue transparent waters are very cold because of the springs which enter the sea which sometimes form small ponds between the sunloungers.
