The beaches on the south side of Block Island are the most spectacular, set beneath large clay cliffs about 150 feet high. Some sections of this clothing optional beach are rocky, but there are long stretches with soft sand. Once on the beach, turn right until you come to the sandy area, and you will come across a handful of naked people.
This secluded beach, is much easier to access than Black Rock Beach which is located further right. It is the place to go for skinny-dipping.
Be careful of the rocks and undertow, more for wading to cool off than swimming. The beach immediately at the foot of the Mohegan Bluffs stairway is has the feeling of being somewhat conservative. Head past the first promontory to the right to loosen up.
