Moturoa Rabbit Island is the largest of a group of sandy islands lying in the Waimea Estuary at the head of Tasman Bay, 15 minutes drive from Richmond.

There are reports that nude bathing is acceptable on the beach (only), but restricted to the months of February and March.

You will find along its seaward side there are more than eight kilometres of beach, which is safe and sandy, with shallow water, which gets deeper slowly as you go out making it perfect for families. Much of the island is covered in pine plantations.
