Druridge Bay is one of Northumberland coast’s largest bays; a seven mile stretch of sand with dunes running from Amble to Cresswell and is within Druridge Bay Country Park, which has a large park with a lake, woodland and visitor centre just off the A1068. It is a popular place for outdoor activities including cycling, walking, paddling and surfing.
The stretch of beach running south of the Chevington Burn towards the National Trust land is privately owned, but has been used as an unofficial nudist beach for around 50 years.
You will see remains of pill-boxes and anti-tank blocks, being the remnants of defences placed here during the Second World War.
A network of paths allows you to explore the whole park and discover the wildlife and landscapes of Druridge Bay. Within Druridge Bay Country Park there are a number of smaller nature reserves with wildlife ranging from swans around the reservoir to the rare golden snipe.
