Playa de Papagayo is the most famous beach on the South of the Island of Lanzarote.
Part of the Natural Park Ajaches, where you find a series of seven wild coves known as Papagayo beaches which are all connected and all naturist/textile mixed.
In a virgin environment of extreme beauty, Playa de Papagayo is part of the Natural Park Ajaches where there are a series of wild coves known as Papagayo beaches which consist of seven coves;
Papagayo, Puerto Muelas, Caleta del Congrio, Playa de la Cera, Playa del Pozo, Playa Mujeres and
San Martial.
All of the beaches are a mix of naturist and textile and are connected by paths through the dunes and hills. One pays a small entrance fee for the park.
Playa de Papagayo is simply spectacular. With views of the islet of Lobos and the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura, the seascape has a special beauty.
A perfect shell shaped bay of 120 meters in length, Playa de Papagayo has soft white sand and calm, crystal clear, emerald green waters, perfect for snorkeling, The sea here is nearly always very calm with little wind and bright sunshine, perfect for children.
You will find naturists take the far end, about a 1/3rd of the beach, the middle third of the beach is mixed and the first third totally textile.

- Ease of Access Access is without difficulty and just a 20 min walk from the Playa Papagayo beach resort. It does, however, include steps and handrail down to Playa Papagayo beach.
There are a number of trails, taking you to the various beaches and coves within the Papagayo area. There is no entrance fee if you visit the park on foot. Start your walk from behind the Sandos Papagayo Hotel in Las Coloradas. There is a local bus (number 30) that can take you to Las Coloradas from the centre of Playa Blanca, from here it’s only a short walk of around 15 minutes to reach the first and largest of the beaches, Playa Mujeres. If you are going on foot, bear in mind that the iconic Papagayo cove is a 2km walk from Las Coloradas.

- Directions Follow the signs on LZ-705 from Playa Blanca towards Femes, until you see the signs for Papagayo. Upon entering the park there are a number of dirt roads leading to the various beaches, there are plenty of car parking spaces at a number of the beaches, but not all.
