Situated quite close to the airport of Santorini, 8km from the town of Fira, lies the quiet beach of Monolithos.Like most of the beaches on the island of Santorini, it has lovely crystal clear shallow waters are ideal for families with young children and popular with naturists.The black volcanic sand gets very hot during the summer so beach shoes are recommended. There are factories in the area, which when the west wind blows can fill the beach with unpleasant smells.

- Directions You can reach the beach of Monolithos, by driving through Karterados village all the way down to the seashore, and turning right along the dirt road below the cliffs and keep going till you get to the sea. Alternatively you can use the buses leaving from Fira via Karterados and Messaria to Monolithos by taking the road which runs below and parallel to Santorini International Airport.
