12 miles west of the main A2 highway that directs the sun-seeking crowds to the Algarve is Comporta, a village on the Tróia peninsula, a 13-mile long sandy spit in the north of Portugal's Alentejo region.
Praia da Comporta is breathtaking with miles of beautiful golden sand and intense blue color of the ocean. There are nice little restaurants on the dunes overlooking the ocean waves. This beach is not very busy, at least compared to the beaches around the Troia resort that can be very crowded in the summer.
Surrounded by sand dunes and pine forest beyond this beach is popular among'st naturists and has a tranquil, relaxing vibe. Although the Atlantic waters are very cold!Only accessible by car.
