Located to the north of Figueira da Foz; Quiaios Beach also known as Palheiros de Quiaios, is long sandy blue flag beach.Unlike those nearer to Figueira this beach is situated on a low-lying plain with nothing to protect it from the Atlantic winds.
Flanked by vegetation-covered dunes, known as the Dunas de Quiaios that stretch all the way up the coast to Mira, this beach is a popular un-official naturist beach backed by forests of acacia, eucalyptus and pine trees.
The powerful waves, sometimes representing a danger to swimmers, make this beach popular with surfers and body-boarders with various annual competitions being held here.
