Praia do Rio Alto meaning "High River Beach"; also known as Estela Beach) is one of the few and the most popular naturist beach in Northern Portugal.
Located on the outskirts of Póvoa de Varzim in Portugal. Although it is not an official "nude beach" Rio Alto is certainly accepted as such. Strong northern winds, Atlantic cold water and lack of nearby services make it a suitable place for Portuguese local naturists where naturism is undeveloped.
Backed by extensive dunes and farmland beyond and soft golden sand stretching for miles. You will certainly find a spot here for putting down your towel, although it can be somewhat crowded at the weekends.

- Directions To reach Praia do Rio Alto / Estela Beach; Travel from Estrada Nacional 131, in the direction of Rua da Fontaínha2 heading west. Take a turning left when close to the golf course. When you reach Aguçadora football field, you have arrived.In Rua Campo de Futebol street you can park for the beach.
