St. Lucie Inlet is a classic Florida barrier island accessible only by boat. A boardwalk takes visitors across mangrove forests, live oaks, cabbage palms, and wild limes to a neatly preserved Atlantic beach. Due to its remote location, a local group says the beach can easily be used for nude sunbathing. There is no officially designated nude beach, and nude bathing has been encouraged around the bend and a couple of miles south of the tram drop-off.
During the summer months, the island is an important nesting area for loggerhead, leather-back, and green turtles. Snorkeling and scuba diving are also popular activities.
