Good Harbor Bay, is located right on M-22, a little south of Leland. This beach offers clear views out to the islands and has a long sandy beach. Just a few seconds walk south is a stream running from the woods into Lake Michigan. The stream is great for kids to play in, fun to follow into the woods, and nice to just stand in the warmer waters of the stream after a cold dip in Lake Michigan.
It is a great place to find a little peace and quiet at this slightly secluded Lake Michigan beach. The only thing it really lacks is large populations of humans. Skinny-dippers, nude bathers and naturists are known to head for the outer reaches of this beach, although naturism is not tolerated, the seclusion of the beach make it possible. Good Harbor Beach today has nothing but scenery, overlooking the Manitou Islands, Pyramid Point and Whaleback, a glacial moraine that looks exactly like it sounds.
