Playa Sua is a small tranquil beach situated within a small fishing village 5 km of Atacames, northwest Ecuador. Known locally as a naturist cove, it is frequented by foreigners in the summer months and is only a 10 minutes walk from the town. It has an extension of approximately 700 meters and its sand is fine light gray, mixed with conchilla in some sections.
The waters are calm and transparent with a faint greenish color. It is surrounded by hills and cliffs, there is little wind. You will find hundreds of colored crabs which roam freely. You can explore the coves surrounded by small green cliffs that extended to the south. In one of its ends is the Peñón del Suicida, a natural viewpoint of calcareous formation that has a height of 80 meters and separates the beaches of Súa and Atacames.
When the tide is low you can cross from one beach to another bordering the rock. At high tide the water reaches the pier, leaving the beach without sand. But be careful because the tide is treacherous and will close your way back if you come back too late.
