This is one of the hidden germs of Zurich. Out of the touristic route, this small island close to city center offers beautiful walks and you don't need clothes.
You can get in touch with nature, feel the wind and the grass on your skin and swim in either the canal under the power plant (experienced swimmers only!!!) or in the river on the other side (do not swim there if you are not used to swimming in rivers with strong currents !!!
Located in the river Limmat in the city quarter called Höngg The Werdinsel has great appeal to many different people. Most popular during the Summer; you will find the upper side (east) offers supervised river bathing. Families enjoy the natural shade of the trees and a small pool and playground for the children.
A popular nudist area (officially legal since 1983) the lower side is divided into two parts: the largest part is primarily gay. The smallest part, separated from the rest by a shallow water canal, attracts a more mixed public. The gay side also seems to attract a lot of dressed barbecue visitors of all ages.
