La Faute-sur-Mer is the most southern of the seaside resorts in the Vendee department, and is situated along a 10 kilometre long peninsula to the east of La Tranche-sur-Mer and facing the Ile-de-Ré.
The naturist beach at the Pointe d'Arçay in La Faute sur Mer is located south of the city center and is the largest naturist beach in Vendée, officially authorized since 1976 on the beach area near the hunting reserve - Anse de la Barrique.
The beach is managed by the Camping Club des Deux-Sèvres. The dunes behind the beach have a large area of forest.
