Ocean Beach is a relatively undeveloped, family friendly beach located 28 km southeast of Hastings. Ocean Beach has golden sand that attracts large crowds during the height of Hawke Bay summers.
The beach is safe when there are no waves or when the surf is small but becomes dangerous in surf over one meter. There are several kilometers of dune-bordered golden sands with a large parking area at the southern end.
The car park is located centrally and this is where the bulk of the bathers swim, and most textile bathing at the southern end. Head 400 meters north of the lifesaving club to reach the unofficial naturist area, where you will find fellow nudists.
