Tapotupotu Bay is one of New Zealands northern most beaches, located just a few kilometres from Cape Reinga. A hidden gem 10 minutes by gravel road off the route to the Cape. It has 300 metres of golden sand and rocky headlands at either end.
There is also a stream/tidal inlet at the eastern end of the bay and this makes access to the eastern headland difficult. The beautiful and secluded Tapotupotu Beach gives spectacular views located just next to lighthouse.
Crystal clear waters and schools of fish swimming between your legs. And a great surf break with the offshore breeze. If entering the water while at the beach you should stay clear of the headland rocks and also the stream mouth.
Tapotupotu Beach has a clothing optional area, where textiles use the area immediately beside the road, which comes in about half way around the bay, and nudists walk to the left, over the creek and past the exposed rock formation which divides the bay in two.
Ideal for a naked sunbathing, surf, fish, scuba dive or swimming at this beautiful sandy surf beach.
